Zones of Regulation

  • At Ongar Primary School all classrooms have a ‘Zones of Regulation’ display (see above) which categorises a range of feelings into four colour groups.
  • Being in the green zone is obviously a desirable place to be but in real life this isn’t always possible.
  • Identifying which zone your child (or you) might be in and acknowledgingthe accompanying feelings can help.
  • The question is then, what do you do about it?
Is there a way to move out of the yellow/blue/red zone and back into the green?
  • Refer to the connected pages (Tools Menu/Breathing Techniques/Calming Sequence for some ideas.
Have fun coming up with some of your own.
